Teen Talk: Suicide Awareness and Prevention

  • Switzer Library 266 Roswell Street Northeast Marietta, GA, 30060 United States (map)

September is Suicide Prevention Month.  With suicide being the second leading cause of death for young people aged 10-24 years old, this is a time to raise awareness of this stigmatized,  sensitive, and often taboo, topic. The goal of this month is to shift public perception, spread hope, and share vital information with people affected by suicide.

Please join guest speaker Dr. Rola Tomori of Regina’s Safe Alliance at Switzer Library on Saturday, September 23rd at 1 p.m. for  Teen Talk: Suicide Awareness and Prevention.

Dr.Rola will teach teens, young adults, and their families common myths about suicide, what to do if a loved one talks to you about suicide, and recovery from suicidal thoughts and attempts.

There will be a Q&A session immediately following this important discussion. This program is intended for teenagers and young adults (16-21). Families are welcome and encouraged to attend and support. No Registration Required

* Please note this program may feature personal narratives of suicide and self-harm

*This program is not intended for diagnosis or treatment. Resources will be available for professional help*
