We are here to help, and we want to hear from you today.

Safety planning is for everyone who has experienced violence or is at risk of violence. Even if you have sought protection from the justice system, it is still helpful to have a Safety Plan.

A Safety Plan increases your ability to stay safe and prepare ahead for the possibility of future violence. While you do not  have control over another person's actions, you have a choice as to how you respond to him/her. You want to focus on the best way to enhance your safety. We know that Safety Planning is emotionally draining, can be complicated and unique to your specific situation so Regina’s Safe Alliance is here to support you.

When you call to discuss safety planning, a trained advocate will:

  • Help you develop a Safety Plan based on your goals.

  • Learn about the status of your relationship and why you are fearful of him/her.

  • Talk about what could happen if the dangerous threats or acts are carried out

  • Ask what you want and why.

  • Think aloud together about creative options and ideas.

  • Review your current safety plan if you have one

  • Listen and respond in a non-judgmental manner.
